Your purchase of GOTS certified linen bedding supports a new eco-friendly alternative to the environmental impact of fast-consumer trends.
What Does It Mean To Be GOTS Certified?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain. And it requires compliance with social criteria as well.
Consumption of water and energy are the most important sustainability considerations for textile processors and manufacturers. As part of the environmental management criteria GOTS requires that - among other information - certified entities must disclose information on energy and water resources, such as their consumption per kg of textile output, target goals and procedures to reduce energy and water consumption.
Choose Linen For your Ecofriendly Bedding
We love washed linen bedding for its practicality, style and function.
And by using linen bedding, you can say goodbye to pesky dust mites and other germs. It will also last for decades and keep your family comfortable and safe.
Effortlessly chic, with a naturally light and airy texture, the Canal Stripe duvet cover is beautiful to behold as the centerpiece of your room. The Workshop Stripe bedding is the ultimate choice for the modern urbanite. And the Guest House Stripe bedding is an absolute for haute living.
Ecoist’s pick of The Heritage bedding is a pure pleasure made of GOTS certified organic linen; it’s optimum for bed sheet set, duvet cover, shams and pillow cases.
What Is Oeko-Tex Standard 100?
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 tests whether a finished textile item is safe for direct contact with your skin.
It does not tell you:
- how the cotton was grown
- whether the fiber is organic
- whether the farming practices were sustainable
It only tells you the final fabric is free from harmful substances such as:
- toxic dye residues
- eftover pesticides
- formaldehyde
- heavy metals
- flame retardants
- residues from finishing treatments
- chemicals linked to allergies or irritation
If a product fails any part of the test, it does not receive the label.
