Art as connection to the land, Mary Rose does pottery as a process of using all elements to create. Her work is inherently tied to the natural world as clay is a living organism, created over thousands of years as water runs over rocks, minerals and crystals, cured by tiny microbes to its slippery consistency...

  • 3.5" Dia x 2.5" Ht
  • Set of 3 Cups
  • Handmade in Topanga California

As a potter, the slow process of the earth is echoed in her craft. She pays attention to the health and components of soil, dig and plant plants that will eventually pass on and become nutrients for the land and in her case, ash for a glaze.  This circular craft is a devotional experience for her and one that binds her to this earth with admiration and awe.

Pause and hold the bowl, see if you can feel the energy of the crystalline clay in your hands.
